Nov 28, 2011 Mon, 2011-11-28 11:31 Human Trafficking Survivors Thailand

Earlier this month, Somaly Mam Foundation’s partner in Vietnam Alliance Anti Trafic (AAT) and Department of Special Investigation(DSI) freed 67 Burmese girls and women from Marina massage parlor in Chantaburi province, Thailand.

A survivor of trafficking who received services from AAT requested that the AAT team to help her niece who was lured into trafficking ring in Thailand. The 16-year-old woman came to Thailand in July 2011 with a broker who originally promised her a decent job with high salary. The victim managed to call her aunt to ask for help.

After receiving a copy of the victim’s photo and house registration, AAT collaborated with DSI for the rescue operation. AAT and DSI forces raided the Marina massage parlor and rescued 67 girls and women. They all faced debt bondage and have never been out of the parlor.

This is the big trafficking ring which related to other areas in Thailand, so there will be further investigation into this case.
