As part of the Body Shop “Stop Sex Trafficking of Children & Young People” campaign, Somaly Mam tours the U.S. and Canada to raise awareness about child trafficking and appeal for the public’s support. In a response to a question from Reuters about the campaign, Somaly explains:

“I need everyone to help our work, to open everyone’s eyes to what is going on with trafficking children and what is going on in Cambodia, Asia and around the world,”

“It is not easy to get funding … and the more people get involved the more we can stop trafficking.”

  1. Dear Somaly Mam,

I heard you speak at the California Women’s Conference yesterday in Long Beach, CA. Your story struck a cord deep in my heart and soul. I was profoundly moved, shocked, and saddened by your ordeal. I cannot imagine how you survived your brutal circumstances, but you did. I’m still asking myself, How can this be happening in our world today? It makes my stomach hurt.

I admire your courage, strength and determination to make a difference and stop human trafficking. I am committed to sharing your story and information with everybody I know. I agree with your statement and request to answer the call to help. I am committed to help you stop this inhumane treatment of Women and children around the world.

Thank you for your bravery and the love you have inside you. You are a beautiful person, inside and out.

May God Bless you and keep you safe as you continue to help those in need.

    Sincerely,

    Lori Killeen

  2. Dear Somaly Mam

last night I read your book, Road of Lost Innocence, it made me cry, my inside churning with pain and anger and hatred and at times I felt as if I will thow out. It is is impossible to imagine what such little girls go though, it is painful, very painful. It is not only happening in Cambodia but World over. I am from India and I know situation is somewhat thesame there. I want to do something to help the helpless victims of human desire and filth.
When I read I could smell the the stench and dirt and helpessness of the the trapped girls.
Wish you all the best in your campaign and work.
Please let me know, how can I help?

    Thanks and regards
    Swapna

  3. Somaly Mam,
I had the honor to meet you at The Body Shop Holiday Conference this year in Orlando. I just want to say that you have moved me in a way I can’t even express. In my shop I say the words “Stop Sex Trafficking” countless times a day. After hearing about your horrific experience and how you found your calling and now help others it’s truly moved me. My shop here in Chicago stands behind this campaign and doing everything we can to raise awareness about this amazing cause. We continue to host special events to raise funds for our local Stop Sex Trafficking chapter as well as selling as many Kind Heart, Soft Hands Creams. Thank you again for touching my heart and allowing me to take a picture with such an amazing person. I was truly honored to stand beside you and smile for the camera.

    Sincerely,

    Joaquin Torres
